One of our family’s favorite holiday traditions, is the hiding of the pickle. For those of you who have never done this, it’s so much fun! A member of the family, typically the person who found it the previous year, hides the pickle somewhere in the Christmas tree. You would think ” It’s a pickle! It will be so easy to find!” but you are so wrong! On Christmas Eve, or whenever your family gets together for the holidays, everyone looks for the pickle. The person who finds it first, gets a prize and they are said to have good fortune in the year to come. Then that person is responsible for buying the prize and hiding it next year. We do this a few times during the holidays. We hide it with my Husband’s family, once for the adults and once for the kids, and the same with my family. We also do it within our own little family on Christmas Day. My mother in law introduced me to this tradition years ago, before any of us had children. You would think that we were all looking for big diamond, with how competitive we were to find it! This is a cheap and easy tradition that everyone can look forward to! The ornaments can be purchased almost anywhere online and come in different shades of green. I hope that you give this fun tradition a try!

OK. Now I get it! I’ve seen the pickles and I knew there was a story there but never got around to looking it up. I love the look of a shiny glass pickle hanging on the tree - LOL! It really sounds like a fun tradition - thanks for sharing it. Here’s to a happy, healthy new year full of everything you’re hoping it will bring!

So sorry it took me so long to see this! Thank you so much and try it with your family next year! Or maybe I can convince Sarah to include a pickle in the December 2020 box!
